DFRL is one of India's leading research and development organization in the area of food, science and technology and is part of Indian Defense Ministry. It has a well equipped library for its students and researchers with over 20,000 books and periodicals.

  • Time consuming stock taking process often requiring huge reconciliation efforts.
  • Book issue and return to and from patrons was a manual paper based process which took considerable time leading to long queues.
  • Lack of visibility to book availability and their location as inventory taking was not done on a regular basis.
Orizin Solution/Methodology:
HF based RFID solution was implemented.
  • All 20,000 books were tagged using HF labels
  • Desktop readers were installed for easy book issue and return. The readers also read patron cards for seamless transaction.
  • Hand held reader was provided for efficient on shelf stock taking process.
  • Integration of RFID infrastructure with a third party (NewGenLib) library application was done.

Kerala State Central Library is one of South India's biggest public library having over 3,00,000 books. It has books spread across 10 different sections. The entire library is spread across huge campus with several reading rooms, internet center and digital library.

  • Individual jewelry items were tagged. These items are typically placed inside a tray/box as they move along various processes.
  • A customized box shaped reader was designed for easy reading of all items in the tray.
  • For stock taking, trays carrying tagged jewels inside them were placed on the reader. This ensured that the jewels were read faster as compared to hand held readers.
  • The customized reader was provided with a USB/Ethernet interface for data transfer.
